For the MetaTrader 5 desktop terminal, you will need to log in to your trading account. To log in:

  • Click on ‘File’ and then ‘Login to Trade Account’
  • Enter the Login, Password and Server (the login and server details can be found at your trading account in the Personal Area while your password is the same as the one you set for your trading account)
  • Once you have successfully logged in, you will hear a chime confirming your login and you can start opening trades.

Once you have created your MT5 trading account, you can place a new order for CFDs in currency pairs, metals and many other instruments. For the MetaTrader 5 desktop terminal:

  • Open a new order by either clicking on ‘New Order’ in the toolbar or double-clicking on your desired forex currency pair in the ‘Market Watch’ window
  • After selecting the symbol, set your volume, stop loss and take profit
  • Then select either ‘Market Execution’ or ‘Pending Order’
  • Next, click on ‘Sell by Market’ or ‘Buy by Market’ to open the trade.

You can close the order by double-clicking your order and click the ‘Close by Market’ button or by right-clicking your order and choosing ‘Close Order’.Other MetaTrader 5 platforms may have slightly different ways to open trades, which you can view in our Help Center.
